There is a quiet truth woven into creation, one we often overlook in our striving.
Trees do not struggle to produce fruit.
They do not wake each morning determined to bear, to prove, to perform.
They simply remain.
Rooted.
Established.
Connected to their source.
And from that place, fruit comes.
In the same way, we are not called to strive to accomplish the will of God.
We are invited to abide.
John 15:4-5 reminds us:
Remain in Me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches.
He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit.
A branch does not produce fruit by trying harder.
It produces fruit by staying connected.
So the question is not,
“How do I fix my fruit?”
The question becomes,
“What am I connected to?”
Because our lives will produce something.
Always.
And whatever we remain in,
whatever we draw from,
whatever we allow to sustain us,
will inevitably be revealed in what grows from us.
So let us examine our fruit, gently and honestly.
Not with condemnation,
but with awareness.
Are we allowing the Spirit to produce what is pleasing to God?
Or have we, even subtly, disconnected from the Vine and begun striving in our own strength?
The invitation still stands.
Return.
Remain.
Rest in Him.
And trust that what is rooted in Christ
will always bear fruit in its time.
